Chris McClatchie

I began to take golf seriously at the age of 14 – attaining my first handicap of 15 at the Drift Golf Club in Surrey, England. Over the next five years, I gave up soccer and golf became my life. While playing club golf, as well as county-level amateur golf, I got my handicap down to 0 by the age of 18 and continued to compete at a high level in national amateur events.

At the age of 19 I began to undertake my PGA training through the University of Birmingham and qualified in 2011 with a full degree in golf studies. It was after this that I discovered a passion for coaching and helping people to improve and develop their game. My coaching career began at Horton Park Country Club in Epsom, where I learned from some highly skilled coaches and developed my own coaching style, while continuing to play in South of England professional events. During my coaching career in the UK, I was selected to coach at the 2013 Open Championship Swing-Zone at Muirfield, Scotland. In addition, I ran many junior development programs.

Since moving to Australia in 2015, I was based at Big Swing Golf Melbourne as manager and head coach, where I quickly became one of the busiest coaches in Melbourne – giving lessons to over 800 clients in-person. I have since opened my own coaching facility in Yarraville to continue to offer the highest level of golf coaching possible. Since August 2021 I have been coaching clients online and have gone on to give over 5000 lessons online to people from 15+ countries around the world and receiving over 1000 5 star reviews. I currently split my time between both in-person and online coaching throughout the week.

I have to give a quick mention to my assistant coach (pictured below), Cleo. She is with me most weekdays in the studio, so she will be the one greeting you at the door.
